Luckiest Girl Alive is a film that’s adapted from a novel of the same name. It is written by Jessica Knoll. The movie is arriving on Netflix this weekend.

In the film, Mila Kunis stars as Ani FaNelli. She’s a cut-throat New Yorker. She lives a so-called perfect life where she’s to be promoted to editor of the New York Times Magazine. Plus, she has a wedding to her former quarterback fiancé. But what happens is her dark high school past comes back. She’s now haunted in a big public way. This literally brings in a drastic event and changes her life.

“I don’t know what’s me and what part I invented,” she admits to her fiancé in the trailer (scroll down to watch). “Sometimes I feel like a wind-up doll. Turn my key, and I will tell you exactly what you want to hear.”

Writer Knoll is also on screenplay duties. Witherspoon’s production company Pacific Standard is also on board. Knoll shared with Cosmopolitan that she wasn’t originally going to write the script, saying:

“There was talk of another more established screenwriter doing it. And it didn’t work out. In the 11th hour, my agent was like, ‘Just as a reminder, Jessica is really interested in writing the script.’ Everyone realized it would be a real time suck to interview all these co-writers.”

She continued: “So I’ve been working on the screenplay and I feel really good about it. I’m in the groove again.”
