Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi and United States President, Biden met alongside for a bilateral meeting. The two countries announced a technology cooperation and investment initiative. Mr Biden, who expressed an idea he has been articulating for several years, said he would work to make the US-India relationship “among the closest” in the world. Biden said, “In our video call in April, you emphasized the need for democracies to deliver. I think that is what we are doing today. We are talking about how to deliver through Quad and the cooperation between the United States and India as well,” he told Mr Modi in his opening remarks.
In addition, the two countries signed an agreement that would allow the US International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) to increase investment support in India for, among other things, small and medium-sized enterprises, health care, renewable energy and infrastructure.
“I am confident that with the India-US investment incentive agreement between us. we will see concrete progress in the direction of investment,” Modi in conclusion, said at the beginning of the meeting.
