The Boys season 3: All about the show!
The Boys is an action-fiction series. The show is set in a universe, where superpowered individuals are recognized as heroes.
They work for the powerful corporation Vought International, which markets and monetizes them. Besides their heroic persona, most of them are adamant and rude.
Right after it premiered, the show received a massive response from both audiences and critics alike. And why wouldn’t it? It has our favourite BOYS in it!

The Boys season 3 renewal status: Is it going to be renewed or canceled?
The Boys season 3 is going to be renewed. That’s right, season 3 is happening! The team has done a pretty great job of keeping their fans up to date with all the relevant information.
Filming for the third instalment kicked off on February 24, 2021. And back on September 17, 2021, the gang officially wrapped for the third season.
Unlike most streaming services, The Boys changed plans between seasons one and two, and instead of coming in one big drop, they were released weekly. The same is expected to happen with season 3.
The Boys season 3 release date: When Will it air?
The Boys season 3 release date is officially set for June 3, 2022. The first three episodes drop then, with the remaining five episodes dropping weekly every Friday thereafter.
Before the new season arrives, though, animated anthology series The Boys: Diabolical will arrive March 4. It will premiere with all eight episodes hitting Prime Video at once.
The Boys season 3 new cast: Who’s going to be in it?
According to resources, we will have some newcomers joining the ranks in season 3.
Supernatural’s Jensen Ackles is taking on the role of Soldier Boy, dubbed “the original superhero” after he fought in World War 2 and became “the first super celebrity, and a mainstay of American culture for decades”.
Ackles shared the big news on Instagram: “I keep wondering what I’ll do….when @cw_supernatural finally ends this year. Then it hit me.”
The Boys also showed their first look at Nick Wechsler’s Blue Hawk. Over on Twitter, they uploaded a photo of the costume, alongside the caption “he’s here to protect and serve, whether you like it or not”.
Katia Winter (Dexter, Sleepy Hollow) is playing Russian mob boss Little Nina. She worked with Vought in the comics, using a less powerful version of their Compound-V formula to make the heads of her test experiments explode.
The Man in the High Castle’s Frances Turner has also joined as a series regular. She is playing Monique, wife of Mother’s Milk.
As for others, here’s a list of cast members returning for The Boys season 3:
- Antony Starr (Homelander),
- Jessie T Usher (A-Train),
- Karen Fukuhara (Kimiko),
- Nate Mitchell (Black Noir),
- Jack Quaid (Hughie Campbell),
- Laz Alonso (Mother’s Milk),
- Erin Moriarty (Annie/Starlight),
- Chace Crawford (The Deep),
- Dominique McElligott (Queen Maeve),
- Claudia Doumit (Victoria Neuman),
- Karl Urban (Billy Butcher),
- Giancarlo Esposito (Stan Edgar),
- and Tomer Kapon (Frenchie)
Speaking truly ten, we’re surprised Quaid is returning after he was scarred for life by Crawford’s prosthetic.
Speaking about what to expect from his character, Jack told The Wrap in January 2022: “I think we tackle a lot of new territory. I think you see our characters in places that you’ve never really seen them before, I’m just so excited for people to see it.
Back in March 2021, Aya Cash warned that it looked unlikely that she’ll be coming back for season three as Stormfront.
“I want to know if she’ll be back, too,” she told Entertainment Weekly. “I’m not there now. I’m on a new Fox show now called This Country. My contract for The Boys was only for a year, so who knows? Maybe they can CGI my face in.”
However, showrunner Kripke has said that she’s still kicking about. “She’s not dead,” he told The Wrap. “She’s ‘Stumpfront’ now.”
“You know, no comment about whether she comes back, but she is forever going to be this kind of mutilated, stubby little Nazi, which we thought was the right punishment for somebody who so believed in Aryan purity.”
That’s (literally) all the information that we have regarding The Boys season 3 cast.
The Boys season 3 plot: What can we expect? * Spoiler Alert *
If you don’t want spoilers, we suggest you skip this part and move directly on to the next part.
Chatting to GamesRadar, Rogen teased: “Erik does have an ending in mind that he likes and is working towards.”
But that’s all that he said. Besides, the first episode title is drum roll please… ‘payback‘. This comes from the comics, as a reference to another group that involved our new characters Soldier Boy, and Stormfront.
All these connections track, as, in an interview with TV Guide, Kripke explains that Soldier Boy “has been a mainstay of Vought’s for decades…”
“We’re writing the history of Vought and how all the characters weave in,” he added, also clarifying that Soldier Boy knew Stormfront when she was Liberty.
The season two finale is a genuine game-changer, altering the entire show’s trajectory moving forward. The Boys are no longer in hiding, but Homelander is still alive and well in Vought Tower.
He had a sticky ending of his own though, so don’t be surprised if Queen Maeve’s blackmailing plan backfires at some point in season three.
“[Season three] is my favorite season,” Starr told TVLine, adding: “[It’s] hands down one of the most enjoyable seasons of TV I’ve had the good fortune of being involved with.
“All I can say is I truly believe the fans are going to freak out at season three… the payoff is going to be worth the wait.”
“I had a great time in season two, and I thought we did something really cool there where we took it next-level in many ways from season one, and really, it’s just the extension of that.”
He added: “I’m always curious to see what the writers, what these crazy people, are going to cook up, and it’s a pretty great feeling in season three to still be surprised and excited every time you turn a page in the material.
“All I can say is I truly believe the fans are going to freak out in season three.”
The most important change of all though comes in the form of that final twist. Is congresswoman Victoria Neuman working for Vought or against them? Perhaps she’s playing all sides in a bid to take advantage of the chaos that will undoubtedly ensue (via digital spy).
Speaking to GamesRadar, Doumit revealed her thoughts on Victoria Neuman’s trajectory in season three, saying: “I’m excited to really dig into what her backstory is and how she got to where she is. Also, I’m very excited to see her f**k some shit up, blow some heads up.”
Nathan Mitchell, who plays Black Noir, also pitched in, “It is so interesting because you have this forced alliance between people. Homelander doesn’t trust Maeve, doesn’t trust Starlight. Noir just fought Starlight, he definitely doesn’t trust Maeve.”
Looking further ahead, it’s also possible that season three might sow the seeds (as it were) of the younger Boys spin-off, which will follow Vought superheroes in training at school.
In a roundtable, Kripke also revealed that they were not going to shy away from addressing COVID-19 either.

The Boys spin-off: What’s happening?
It’s official: The Boys is getting a spin-off!!
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the currently untitled series will be set in America’s only college for young superheroes, run by Vought International. The students must compete for the best contracts in the outside world.
Michele Fazekas and Tara Butters (Marvel’s Agent Carter) will head it up. Craig Rosenberg, who writes on the original series, was signed up to the spin-off but is reportedly no longer involved due to creative differences.
“Much like Mork & Mindy spin[ning]-off from Happy Days – which is an insane and true fact – our spinoff will exist in the Vought Cinematic Universe, yet have a tone and style all its own,” said Kripke.
“It’s our take on a college show, with an ensemble of fascinating, complicated, and sometimes deadly Young Supes.
“Michele and Tara are stone-cold geniuses, we’re thrilled to have them steer this ship, and grateful to Sony and Amazon for the opportunity.”
“We love this show and can’t wait for you to see it. Also, Baywatch Nights spun off from Baywatch, and it had vampires. Vampires!”
“It’s exciting in that sort of perverted Marvel way – in the way that different Marvel projects are very different: One’s a thriller, one’s a comedy,” teased Kripke (via The Hollywood Reporter). “This feels like that, too, but with a ton more dick jokes.”
